What is AI SEARCH OPTIMIZATION?
AI is reshaping the way clients find your business
At Aloha Life Digital, our focus is on helping you show up where it matters most: in AI-driven answers that bring real customers to your door.
The truth is, not all searches are equal, and we work hard to stay ahead of the curve in this fast-developing niche.
Informational queries (the kind people ask out of curiosity) are increasingly answered directly by AI, meaning fewer clicks through to websites for research. But high revenue-intent searches from people actively looking to buy are now surfacing in AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. That’s where the opportunity for your business lies.
Our strategy is simple: target those high-value search terms. We place them in the right locations across your site, supported by quality content, strong social proof, and credible backlinks. This combination signals to both traditional search engines and AI models that your business is trustworthy and authoritative.
And because AI search is nuanced, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. We tailor each strategy to your business, so you’re not just visible – you’re discoverable in the places where it counts most.

Welcome to Aloha Life Digital
A rare team of true SEO experts, at the cutting edge of how to remain visible online
Aloha, friends,
I’m Claire, the Founder of Aloha Life Digital. I’m an award-winning British entrepreneur based in Boston, Massachusetts.
I’ve worked in digital marketing for over two decades, building and scaling businesses to 8-figure revenues using SEO and content to build visibility and opportunities.
With the advent of AI engines, the search landscape is shifting faster than ever before. There are more ways to be discovered online.
The advent of AI has certainly led to some shifts and adjustments to SEO practices.
But the good news is, a lot of the successes we’re seeing with clients in AI are thanks to the long-term good practices we’re already familiar with and have been practicing successfully for years within the SEO industry. Quite simply, high quality content and a good user journey are still really important parts of getting discovered in all kinds of search.
But there are some nuances emerging around AI that can give you an edge over your competitors in AI Search: the use of structured data, brand building across platforms, and demonstration of strong firsthand experience are just a few examples.
As with the early days of SEO, there are lots of bad practices being tolerated by AI engines right now too. I suspect we’ll see a clamping down on those in the coming months and years. My team and I have seen a lot of those before. We know what to avoid to avoid penalties and how to amplify your visibility in a way that also appeals to your target customers.
If that approach sounds like something that would suit you and your business, I’d love to chat.

AI search optimization FAQs
What is AI Search, and how is it different from Google?
AI search like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, are tools where people ask questions in natural language and receive synthesized answers rather than a list of links.
Google is still very much a discovery engine built around websites and rankings. AI search is more conversational and interpretive. Instead of sending someone off to ten different pages, it attempts to answer the question directly, often by pulling from multiple sources across the web.
From where I’m sitting, this doesn’t replace Google or other search engines; it sits alongside them. People still use search engines when they want to compare, browse, or verify. AI search tends to be used when someone wants clarity, direction, or recommendations. If your brand is clear, credible, and well-positioned online, you have a much better chance of being referenced in both.
Can my business actually show up in AI tools like ChatGPT?
Absolutely, if someone is searching for your business and they ask ChatGPT specifically about your brand, or about services you provide, your business can show up.
For example, I know clients have discovered Aloha Life Digital through AI Search by asking about female-run SEO experts or agencies near them.
And my clients often receive leads from clients who have found their services through various AI Search platforms.
Is SEO still relevant if people use AI instead of Google?
As of January 2026, the most up-to-date stats we have on the proportion of internet searches that are happening on AI vs in Google are this:
87% of all internet searches still take place in Google. ← Google does produce AI results, so this is a little muddy.
3-10% of all internet searches take place on AI platforms.
So from where I’m sitting, for the time being, it’s still very important for business owners to consider ‘traditional’ SEO an important channel for new customer acquisition.
My team is monitoring this all the time and we’re watching the rate of change, and we’re ready to adjust our systems and processes in order to be able to leverage the biggest opportunities in search for the brands that prioritize SEO and AIO. There’s still a place for SEO, but it goes hand in hand now with work that will also assist with AI search visibility. There is no separating the two.
What kind of content helps me get mentioned in AI answers?
It is no longer sufficient to churn out vast amounts of high quality informational content, because AI can do that, and we’re all becoming immune to the genericness of AI copy.
What has become increasingly important in search over the past 5-10 years is the uniqueness of content; the personalization, the telling of stories, and the development of a brand rather than a faceless entity. The same is true of AI search. The brands that are being prioritized are the ones with strong identities, authentic and original content, and who are crystal clear on their offering, and their target client.
So high quality copy is more important than ever before. If you can communicate clearly online with your target audience, and they are crystal clear on your offering, that’s a great start to getting found in AI Search.
Of course, there are many factors that contribute to getting found in AI Search; content is just one, and your competitors is another. We need to look at all of those holistically to get a picture of what’s needed in order for your brand to be most visible in all kinds of search.
Do keywords still matter in AI search?
Exact match keywords are becoming less important in search, but that doesn’t mean communication can become any less clear.
The only thing in search that has changed is the tools we’re using to look for things; humans haven’t fundamentally changed, and the language we use to search for things hasn’t fundamentally changed.
And as a result, keyword research is still incredibly important for search visibility, for both AI and ‘traditional’ search. Very often, good keyword research is what gives us the data and what gives businesses the edge over their competitors.
How do I know if AI tools are already mentioning my brand?
You can ask AI services like ChatGPT for a brand that supplies the products and services your business provides.
We also have access to intelligence tools like Ahrefs and Semrush that we can use to better track mentions across various different AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, that tell you more about your brand.
Is getting found in AI search something I can control?
The biggest factors that influence AI visibility are the clarity of your brand or service, the consistency of your messaging, your authority in your industry, and how well your content and website communicate who you are, who you serve, and what you do.
While we can’t control the way AI is programmed, or the content of other brands who are competing in the same space as yours, we can control is how well those foundations are built. We can make sure your website is technically sound, your messaging is clear, your content is original and useful, and your positioning is strong. All of that increases the likelihood that AI tools understand your business and accurately reference it.
Does technical SEO still matter for AI search?
Yes, technical SEO is very important for AI search.
AI tools still rely on being able to access, crawl, and understand your website. If your site is slow, broken, or difficult to interpret, it becomes much harder for both search engines and AI systems to make sense of your content.
Good technical SEO makes sure that your site is readable, trustworthy, and accessible. That foundation supports everything else, including your content, brand’s message, and authority. Without it, even excellent copy can struggle to show up in any kind of search.
Is AI search only important for big brands?
No, not at all. We’re working with many smaller businesses, including those with under $1m in revenue, who are already getting leads and clients through AI search. In some cases, smaller brands actually have an advantage because they can be clearer, more specific, and more human in their messaging, and they can adapt to changes quicker.
AI tools aren’t only prioritising big names. They’re prioritising brands that are well defined, credible, and genuinely useful to a specific audience. Relevance and authenticity matter far more than size.
How long does it take to see results in AI search?
It depends on your starting point, your goals, and how ambitious you want to be.
If your brand and website are already clear and well-positioned, we sometimes see mentions and visibility improve quite quickly. In other cases, it takes longer because foundational work like improving messaging, technical SEO, or the quality of your content also needs to be improved.
AI search visibility, much like SEO, is not instant. It builds over time as systems gain more confidence in who you are and what you offer.
Is this a one-off project or ongoing work?
It depends. Some businesses come to us with a very specific goal, like fixing technical issues or getting clearer about how they explain what they do online. Or it might be the first time they’ve ever considered AI Search as a potential acquisition channel, and they want to see what’s possible. Once foundational work is done, you’re in a much stronger position.
Others are looking for ongoing support because they see an opportunity for AI search to become a key acquisition channel, and they choose to invest in developing that capability, which requires more intensive work over a sustained period.
Like SEO, AI search doesn’t stand still. What works well today might need small adjustments in six or twelve months. The right approach really comes down to how competitive your space is and how important search is to the growth of your business.
