This is how it started out
Our client came to us knowing they had an amazing, high end service. They just weren’t getting found by their target audience. Their goal was to increase the number of high value leads coming into the business.
She had a hunch SEO would work, but wasn’t entirely sure. She’d worked with SEO agencies in the past, and hadn’t been terribly impressed with their results.
This is what we found when we started work
Our client was an experienced entrepreneur, with plenty of industry experience, but the website was relatively new (3-years into this business but with experience within the industry). This meant the domain had low authority (low authority means it can be harder to get search engines to pay attention to your content. It’s a common situation for a lot of small businesses.)
The client had a nicely designed website, with a good level of information about their core services.
- They didn’t have individual pages for each of their services.
- Their target locations weren’t particularly clear to humans or search engines.
- Their website didn’t have a lot of content, or receive a lot of traffic.
- They weren’t running ads, and didn’t have a social media presence.
- Website was in good technical health, built in Squarespace platform (we love working with Squarespace!).
What we did
Initial high level optimization of existing website content, including on-page SEO to make it clear to search engines (and humans) where their business was primarily operational, and what services they offer..
This client then signed up for our full service SEO package. Over the coming months, this is what we did:
- Complete audit of website
- Extensive keyword research to identify low-hanging-fruit and longer-term opportunities
- Developed long-term SEO plan to ensure results early on in the process, as well as planning for longer-term ambitious, blue-sky goals
- Completed and implemented on-page SEO
- Laid out a comprehensive content strategy plan to ensure we were creating high quality content that was useful and relevant to their target audience. For this client, that didn’t mean extensive blog posts: it meant short, sharp, high-level articles and lists, which are accessible, full of researched and verified information, and directly answering queries which we know are being asked by their target clients in search.
- Extensive cross-linking throughout the site itself.
- Multiple PR campaigns over several months, whenever there was something noteworthy to celebrate
- Business directory listings, both local and national
- Backlinking strategy and then ongoing work to secure links with minimum DA40 and sometimes as high as DA+80.
- Press jacking, whenever a suitable opportunity arises.
- Continual development of core website pages, ensuring the website is an accurate reflection of the business, e.g. making sure team pages are up to date, any industry accreditations are relevant, testimonials are recent.
- Over time, expansion to additional new locations.
The results
- Revenue increased by 150% in the first 6 months of working together.
- Two years in, they continue to have month after month of best ever revenue.
- Ranking in top 1-2 for 4 of the largest cities in the USA, including beating some major, well-established and highly reputable incumbent competitors.
- Domain authority has increased from 6 to 55.
- 30x increase in leads: from 3 leads/month to over 50/month, high value leads.
What our client thinks
According to our client, these results have been ‘life changing’. They are slammed with new enquiries.
Key takeaways
- We built strong SEO foundations.
- Niche business is benefitting from a tailored strategy as the business grows.
- Local market visibility has transformed the quantity of leads coming into the business.
- Premium look and feel of the website, as well as transparent pricing information, ensures that leads coming into the business are well-qualified and high value.
Perhaps also worthy of note is this: this particular client has been especially successful, because they were able to step out of the way and let me and my team implement things that – at times – seemed counterintuitive to her.
This is something we know a lot of business owners find hard (as a business owner myself, trust me, I get it!)
After several years of working together, there is a good amount of trust established. We have been treated as a genuine partner in growth of the business, and the client’s business has flourished because she has been able to trust that of an external provider.
If you have a high end business and you’d like to see how SEO might be able to help you grow your sales, we’d love to hear from you. No obligation, no pressure, just a good old fashioned chat (cup of tea optional). You can schedule that here.
